From Magento to Shopify: a Path to 90% Increased Day-to-Day Efficiency


Goals
With such strategic goals pointed out, this was supposed to be a transformative project for Bronson Labs. And so it became one! We liked the ambitions behind so we hopped on planning the project.

All-encompassing migration of the e-commerce store from Magento to Shopify
This involved transferring all user data, order history, and product information. Also, through the design update, we wanted to revamp the user experience for both visitors and website managers: enhance navigation and overall usability for a smoother user journey.

Cutting maintenance costs and reducing the IT team’s time needed to implement changes
The goal was to reduce the annual $90,000 expenditure on Magento, intensified by constant needs for over-customization and developer-driven updates. We aimed to transition to a leaner, more manageable platform that would allow quicker configurations of integrations and essential e-commerce features.

Empowering the marketing team and reducing dependence on developers
We sought to give more control to the marketing team so that they could easily and quicker do whatever they wanted, on their own: content updates, promotions, banners, website management, creating new pages, adding product information, and many more.

There was nothing we could really do in-house. I wasn't even able to change banners on the website!
Bronson Labs, a US-based leader in natural health products, faced a critical hurdle with their Magento e-commerce store. The platform was plagued by slow loading times, intrusive pop-ups, and UX technical issues that made it problematic to offer friendly experiences to their customers.
Simple tasks became monumental challenges
It was mainly due to their Magento setup that updating product descriptions or implementing promotional banners consumed valuable time and resources. For example, adding a single new discount took more than 15 minutes, often with errors along the way.
They heavily relied on technical support for any change
What’s even more important, the high maintenance cost and reliance on developers for even basic changes were significant pain points. Slow updates and difficulty applying changes limited their ability to adapt to dynamic market needs and their competitor’s activity.
In a way, they felt powerless. The change was needed and we felt excited and determined to join Bronson Labs on their journey to a more streamlined e-commerce experience with Shopify!

Approach
We performed full-scale migration involving data transfer, integration configuration, and a customized Shopify setup. This was complemented by a thorough UX/UI audit and redevelopment. A seamless transition, as it seems!

UX/UI Design: Analysis of the existing store and customization of a pre-existing Shopify theme to meet Bronson Labs' unique needs.

With Klaviyo, it became extremely easy to manage promotions, discount features, cross-selling, and up-selling functionalities. It led to more targeted marketing actions and gave a clear boost to responsiveness and potential sales.

GlobalE has been a crucial element of Bronson Labs’ e-commerce ecosystem even since Magento. We configured it for Shopify too, so they handle international pricing, customs, shipping, and currency conversion seamlessly. They’re ready to expand globally.

Data-based decisions
Shopify analytics dashboard
Bronson Labs received additional sources of analytical data with Shopify’s analytics and reports. They’re not dependent on Google Analytics only. That helps them better understand users’ behavior and shape solutions to drive conversions and sales figures.
